1. Aims and Scope

The journal publishes high quality original research on all aspects of Bacillus thuringiensis and Bt toxin affecting the living organisms, as well as environmental risk and public policy relevant to Bt modified organisms. Topics include (but are not limited to) Bt strain identification, novel Bt toxin discovery and bioassay, transgenic Bt plants, insecticidal mechanism of Bt toxin as well as resistant mechanisms of target-insect to Bt toxin.

Bt Research (BtR) is particularly keen to publish the original research and review article from authors in countries where the Bt modified crops are widely used in commerce in order to provide a forum for advocator, protestor and middle-of-the-roader.

The criteria of publication in the journal are comprehensive insights that are not only of broad interest to Bt researcher, molecular breeder and geneticist, but also attractive for the public who are interested in GM Bt products and biosafety.

2. Copyright

The authors permanently reserve the copyright for their publications and have granted the rights to any third party in advance for using, reproducing or disseminating the work under the terms of copyright and license of the MicroSci Publisher constitutions and adopted law and regulations.

3. Manuscripts Submission

3.1 Online submission

Manuscripts must be submitted to Bt Research electronically by MicroSci Publisher online submission system. In cases that online submission system is not available, you can submit your manuscript to the submission email of Bt Research: edit@bt.microbescipublisher.com. If both of the above ways do not work out, you can directly send your manuscripts to manuscripts@sophiapublisher.com. The editors will handle your submission within five working days.

Preferred file formats of manuscripts are Microsoft Word and Rich Text Format (RTF). Figures, tables, movies, and raw data can be submitted as supplementally files.

A cover letter must be submitted along with the manuscript during the submission, which should contain a brief explanation of what was previously known, the conceptual advance provided by the findings, and the importance of the findings to a broad readership, as well as how and why their major findings relate to the scope of the journal. Closely related papers submitted elsewhere or in press should be noted in the cover letter and uploaded as additional supplementally files in the online submission system. The cover letter is confidential to the editor and will not be seen by reviewers.

3.2 Corresponding Author

The full name, the contact information, and e-mail address of the corresponding author should be provided. We take the corresponding author as the responsible author, which means that the corresponding author accepts such a responsibility: The corresponding author must warrant that all co-authors have read and approved the authorship of the manuscript, the content of the paper, and its submission to BtR. Official approval of all original authors must be provided before any changes in authorship. All reasonable demands on the necessary materials and methods which can justify the experimental results must be satisfied. Please inform the editorial office if the contact information of the corresponding author changes after submission.

4. Article processing

Scientists all over the world are invited to be as peer reviewers for this journal. All submission will be automatically transferred online to the reviewers by Manuscript Proceeding System in the MicroSci Publisher prior to CrossRef's plagiarism check. Bt Research offers a fast publication schedule whilst maintaining rigorous peer review. Normally the publication period is two or four weeks depend on the speed of peer review. Using the recommended manuscript preparation formats will largely speed up the paper procedures and shorten the periods. Research articles will be published electronically in provisional PDF immediately upon acceptance. A fully structured web version HTML and PDF download version will be uploaded within four weeks after acceptance.

Bt Research is affiliated with other biology journals published by MicroSci Publisher, e.g. Molecular Entomology, Journal of Mosquito Research, and Genomics and Applied Biology. If referees judge that a manuscript is sound but not of special interest and therefore not appropriate for Bt Research, the referee reports can be shared with other journals published by MicroSci Publisher. Transferring a manuscript from one journal to another will not incur delays. Conversely, if a manuscript submitted to a sister journal in the MicroSci Publisher series is judged to be of exceptional interest by the referees and editors. We may offer publication in Bt Research.

5. Article-processing charges

Bt Research levies an article-processing charge for every accepted article to cover the costs incurred by open access publication. Article-processing charge for all MicroSci Publisher journals is in uniform. MicroSci Publisher standard article-processing charge is Canadian dollar 1200 CAD (US dollar $1200), which has no any tax fee included. For authors from the Canada, their article processing charges levied by MicroSci Publisher contain 12% of HST tax fee, and this tax fee will be listed solely upon invoice. For authors other than from the Canada, their article processing charges are exclusive of any tax fees. Authors from low-income countries and areas or having financial difficulties can apply the discount for APC upon submission and if the authors are qualified to be waived they don't necessarily pay the APC.
