The production of potatoes (Solanum tuberosum) is faced with various pathogenic diseases such as viruses, bacteria, fungi and nematodes, reducing yield and quality of tuber. Therefore, the regulatory mechanisms of potato disease resistance have been conducted in-depth exploration at the molecular level. This study summarizes the main potato diseases and their corresponding resistance mechanisms. It also reviews the regulatory roles of metabolic pathways and signaling pathways, such as phenylpropanoid pathway and jasmonic acid signal, and reveals the expression patterns and metabolic reprogramming of disease resistance genes through metabolomics and transcriptomics. This study combines the latest advances in molecular breeding techniques such as CRISPr/Cas9 and RNA Seq, aiming to provide important theoretical basis and research directions for future potato disease resistance research and breeding improvement.
